Rather than buying a wall-mounted paper towel holder, we opted to bring these two IKEA baskets out of the closet, knowing that we would be switching to these reusable paper towels, which would require storage off the roll. The baskets aren’t being made anymore, but here’s something similar.
This indoor/outdoor side table from Home Goods was a printer stand for years until we got rid of our printer last year. Rather than sell it, we decided it would be a good plant stand.
All of these plants used to live in that big, round pot until they started looking a bit sickly. Rather than buying new pots, we checked the closet for pots we’d been saving from past dead plants. We even used a pot Donnie had painted as a teaching project, even though it hadn’t been intended for the apartment.
This used to hang in the living room before we painted, but we moved it into the bedroom to better match the color scheme. The floating frame also works well with our aim of keeping as much of the black wall exposed as possible.
This used to be in the hallway. When we painted, it became part of the gallery wall in the bedroom.
We found this chair in the garbage on the curb in Bushwick. A little paint and a new seat later, and it lived near the coffee table in the living room before being turned into Donnie’s office chair.
