We switched to these bamboo toothbrushes a while ago, and we don’t even notice the difference except that we can compost them.
We used David’s toothpaste for a while but didn’t end up liking the mouthfeel or taste, so we’re back to Aquafresh.
After running out of Who Gives a Crap bamboo toilet paper, we’re trying their recycled paper toilet paper, and there’s no real difference. I wanted to try their recycled paper product after reading this interview with their head of product and sourcing, who said it was the more eco-friendly option because it didn’t use any virgin material.
I tried Meow Meow Tweet’s eucalyptus lemon deodorant stick and had some user error issues. But now that I’ve used jarred deodorant and know what to do, I would recommend this to anyone as long as they use their hands to apply.
Schmidt’s fragrance-free deodorant was a rec from my mom, and it’s the most effective natural deodorant I’ve used. I picked the jar because if you collect five lids and return them, they’ll send you a free jar. Unfortunately, I’m sensitive to baking soda in deodorants, so I passed this on to Donnie.
Now I’m using Meow Meow Tweet’s unscented, baking soda–free deodorant in the jar.
I’m also using their rosemary eucalyptus vegan lip balm.
It’s a little less waxy than I prefer, so I’ll probably be switching back to Burt’s Bees now that I know they take their packaging back for recycling.
A not-insignificant amount of our plastic usage comes from buying coffee, so we each got a reusable tumbler. Donnie’s is from Target, and mine is from S’well.
We got this soap dish for the bathroom. We haven’t used it yet because we aren’t out of liquid soap yet, but it looks great.
To hear about our first soap dish purchase after getting rid of our shower caddy, check out episode 6.
We also got a soap dish for the kitchen so we could make the switch to solid dish soap. So far we’ve really liked it. We actually started out by using our stain stick as solid dish soap because they’re both 100% saponified coconut oil. I learned all about saponification on the Dr. Bronner’s website.
For the link to Donnie’s artisanal soap, check out episode 55.
